Welcome to St Marychurch WI. We are a friendly active WI formed in April 2012 (see Our History page) and currently have about 50 members. We are not full and do not have a waiting list – you are welcome to join us! Our members have ranged from early 20s to early 80s, all young at heart, and include working mums and ladies of leisure. We meet at 7.30 pm on the 4th Tuesday of every month (except in December when our meeting is on the 2nd Tuesday). Our programme page gives more information. We have guest speakers, recreational activities and the chance for members to get to know each other. We support local charities and raise funds at local fairs by selling goods handmade by our members.
In the past we have had talks on a wide range of subjects which have made us laugh, think, reminisce, or reflect. The topics vary and cover cooking, history, environment, theatre and “many more”.. Meetings have included hands on activities and opportunities to exercise. We learn new things all the time.
As well as our monthly meetings we have a coffee morning, craft group, Skittles group, Genealogy group, walking group, a Bridge group, Scrabble group and lunch club. We have also organised theatre trips and other outings. Other ideas always welcome. Through Devon Federation members (and sometimes their friends and families) have taken part in other trips and activities.
If you would like to join us please come along and experience a meeting. You are welcome at any meeting. We ask visitors to pay £4 but will deduct this from your membership fee if you join that evening. You can visit more than once. If you’d like further information please use the Contact Us page.
As per NFWI rules you can pay a reduced fee if you join after July for the first year only. Renewals are at full rate and due in April each year.
